When everyone’s favorite fashion bible, Vogue, commands a style rule, then it must be true: The publication is saying the embroidered biker jacket is officially the most stylish leather jackets and it’s here to stay.
More specifically, Vogue highlights a poll taken from members of it’s own staff who admitted to owning a version of the style. “It’s simple: They {embroidered leather jackets} add an essential urban edge to an otherwise staid outfit… ‘Everyone should own one, ‘” says Lucy Bower, Vogue’s fashion assistant. Like most ’90s trends we’ve seen making waves in fashion, we are loving this one. The leather jacket has always been a closet staple that every woman can turn to in an effort to upgrade her wardrobe, and while we love a classic piece like the biker jacket, we also love a modern twist and that’s why the leather jacket is the perfect canvas for such upgrades. Impressively, Bowers tells Vogue, “This season we’re calling them bikers with a twist—they’re oversized, with printed or embroidered leather, or other detailing that makes them less traditional.” So, how to wear them now? Like most reborn trends, wearing the embroidered moto needs to done right. “Don’t put it with a dress – that’s passé, ” says Bowers. “We’re {Vogue} wearing ours with leather trousers.”
