Gigi Hadid Opens Up About Imperfections In Reebok’s Club C “Diamond” Pack Campaign

Style icon, supermodel and fitness advocate, Gigi Hadid, is the new Reebok’s #PerfectNever campaign, which is meant to “motivate women to accept their own setbacks and imperfections by embracing their inner strength, grit and determination,” per a statement from the brand. A powerful and inspirational call to action, the #PerfectNever movement asks women around the world to celebrate the beauty of imperfection and symbolizes Reebok’s approach to self-betterment.

A self-proclaimed fitness fanatic, Gigi explains the many benefits of staying active. “Working out isn’t only physical for me. It’s mental. It helps me escape the noise in my head. It’s the only time my mind goes quiet,” Hadid said in an October 2016 release. “When I was a competitive athlete, I used to be so focused on being perfect that my coaches would take me out of competing altogether. I’d focus on my mistakes which would breed more missteps — a domino effect. Until I learned to change the channel, to re-focus, re-set. It was my mistakes, my imperfections that motivated me most.” Hadid even took to her Snapchat to give a shout-out to the brand, spotlighting their partnership for the #PerfectNever movement. Of course, the message applies to the rest of us as well. In all aspects of our lives, we are held up to high standards that we feel we have to meet or we’re failures. This powerful campaign sends the message that it’s actually the effort and the perseverance that makes us great. The newest iteration in #PerfectNever features Gigi Hadid launches today on Reebok’s website. With this powerful messaging backing the return and the #PerfectNever hashtag already gaining traction, the new Club C designs are about to be everywhere.

Inside Runway Rogue: The New Beauty Brand Everyone Will Be Talking About

When 90’s supermodel and cover girl Patricia Hartmann launched Runway Rogue, a high-performance, paraben-free beauty brand last December, she knew she wanted to begin the journey with a mindset of helping women refine and experiment with their own personal “Attitude of Beauty.” I sat down with Hartmann to discover more about her new beauty line and cult following.

“The journey in creating Runway Rogue products has been incredibly hands on, and I’ve pulled inspiration directly from my years of modeling so that each shade of lipstick has a complete story behind it,” Hartmann says. Specifically, Hartmann recounts a story behind one of her favorite shades and Runway Rogue’s best-seller: Head Over Heels ($21), which is inspired by a fashion show she did in the 90s in which the makeup artist created special shades of lipstick for the models. Hartmann recalls, “I worked with some of the best makeup artists in the world in the 90s: Kevyn Aucoin, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown.  When I started Runway Rogue I wanted to recreate some of the things I had learned from them. I searched high and low for an amazing lab and I was incredibly involved in making my products.”

Hartmann has mastered, or perhaps was born with, the enviable pout to make the I woke up like this beauty look effortless and polished.  And, so, it’s appropriate that Runway Rogue’s debut launch takes you back to the Hartmann’s iconic pout with a carefully crafted limited edition collection of creamy lipstick bullets (in matte and satin finishes), rich glosses and extreme long wear pencils. The colors include brights, bolds, and sheers. Asked about her concept for Runway Rogue, Hartmann tells us, “I see makeup as a gateway to experimentation, creative expression, and confidence to pursue the life you want to live. The life you dreamed of when you were three years old. The life you still dream of today, and actively create in every moment.” She continues, “I started Runway Rogue to open the floodgates of passionate playfulness to women and men around the world. Our mission is to provide high-performance cosmetics, and since my passion for lip products has never waned, I decided to begin this journey by creating gorgeous shades in different textures so that you can refine and experiment with your personal ‘Attitude of Beauty.'” Having walked the runways of Paris, New York and Milan for designers such as Chanel and Oscar de la Renta, Hartmann has created what she calls her own runway, of a slightly different nature. “I walked on the actual runways, but I feel that everyone has their own runways –  because in life you want to look beautiful and life is your runway.”

With Hartmann’s passion, experience and expertise, there’s no doubt Runway Rogue will expand to an all-encompassing line of runway-ready products. So without further ado, scroll down for a roundup of lush lipsticks, glosses and liners from Runway Rogue’s debut collection.

The Surprising Habit That’s Giving You Wrinkles

There are plenty of well-known rules for preventing wrinkles. But there are few lesser known wrinkle-causing actions you’re probably doing on the regular—without even realizing it. The biggest one being that spraying perfume on your neck will cause premature aging and yes, wrinkles. I know, we were super scared when we first heard too. Dermatologists cite numerous reasons for why the skin on the neck is so vulnerable, but the biggest reason is the skin on your neck is thinner than facial skin, leading it to be more likely to sag and wrinkle with exposure to drying chemicals. In fact, second only to the skin around your eye area, the skin on your neck is the most delicate skin on your body–so take care.

So, forget the movies, and adopt a new routine for spraying perfume. Our recommendation would be to spray in areas of the body that conduct heat. These will be areas where the blood vessels are elevated closer to the surface of the skin, think inside the elbow crease, the back of the neck, the belly and décolletage. If you’re worried that you’ve already done some damage by spraying perfume on your neck: Don’t worry, because the best way to prevent skin from premature aging is by creating anti-aging habits. These habits can help reverse and prevent damage, making your skin supple for years to come.

Never ones to bring bad news without offering a solution, scroll down for wrinkle-prevention habits to picks up now!

1. WEAR SUNSCREEN

You’ve definitely heard this one before, but make sure you apply a generous dose of sunscreen with SPF to your face and neck every day. It’s really quite simple: Ask any dermatologist, and they’ll say that using SPF is the easiest way to reverse (and slow) your skin’s aging process. Scroll down to shop the best new SPF products.

Your Love of Coffee Might Actually Make You Live Longer

Coffee addicts, rejoice! If you’ve ever had someone call you out on being a coffee addict, you may now have the perfect rebuttal. We know it makes us feel good, but now there is evidence that it can help us live longer too.

A new study from scientists at Stanford University School Of Medicine suggests that caffeine may be effective in working against inflammation and cardiovascular disease as we age. For the study, which was published online in the journal Nature Medicine, researchers looked at blood samples of about 100 people, of all ages. The researchers found that older people who had lower levels of inflammation had one thing in common: They all drank caffeine regularly. The study also provides evidence that caffeine and its metabolites may counter the action of these circulating nucleic-acid metabolites, possibly explaining why coffee drinkers tend to live longer than those who did not drink coffee.

“More than 90 percent of all noncommunicable diseases of aging are associated with chronic inflammation,” said the study’s lead author, David Furman, Ph.D., in a press release. “It’s also well-known that caffeine intake is associated with longevity–Many studies have shown this association. We’ve found a possible reason for why this may be so.”

So, while the age-old question of whether coffee is good for you or bad for you can still be contentious, this new research has found that you probably don’t have to feel too bad about that second cup of wondrous coffee. We know it makes us feel good, but now there is evidence that it can help us live longer too.coffee today.

Love Grommets? You’ll Flip For Liliana Shoes’ New Collaboration

There are few things in this world that we here at Style Salute love more than the arrival of new spring shoe styles. If this is a feeling you have too, we’d like to introduce you to one of the most stunning shoe trends of the season—grommets.

This particular shoe trend is amazing for more reasons than one. Yes, they add edge to any ensembe—and yes, their industrial look can be transitioned from day to night, but they are also the perfect shoes to wear with pretty much every spring trend. A floral print cocktail dress? Yes, please. 80’s-inspired trousers and a leather jacket for men and women ? Has a cooler outfit even existed?

To present you with the best options for the trend, we searched high and low for the brands that offered the most irresistible options. That’s why we were so excited when we heard about the new Liliana shoes | DSW collaboration. The DSW x Liliana collection is a lineup of platforms, sandals, flats, and more to make your Spring closet the inspiration for all your friends. Our favorite from the collection is a block heel sandal with you guessed it: grommets.

We love the day-to-night transition these shoes offer. Pair with an LBD for the night or a skinny jean for the day, and you’re ready to rock! What’s better is that the sandals come in a variety of amazing shades and they are so reasonably priced and comfortable, you may just want to buy all the colors (we sure did!).

Practicing These 3 Things Will Make You Infinitely Happier

When she’s not in a courtroom or at a legal conference, mindfulness expert and yoga guru, Mona Tashroudian, shares her healthy living secrets in our “Ask a Mindfulness Expert” column. Come back the second Monday of each month for Tashroudian’s actionable tips to help you on your journey to becoming your healthiest, happiest self. Get more from Mona on her blog Mindfulness Law.

It’s the middle of the day, you’re sitting at your desk, feeling slightly anxious and a little frustrated. All of a sudden, you start to daydream about how much happier you will be, in the future when a certain event happens (i.e., when you finally take your vacation, when that life-sucking project is finally over, when you meet the spouse of your dreams, etc.)

Sound familiar? These thoughts, which I call “delaying happiness,” are common and are shared by all humans. But, what most people are not aware of, is that these thoughts can actually be sabotaging your pursuit of happiness, and negatively influencing your career, relationships, and well-being. Why is that, you ask? Usually, when the event we think will bring us happiness occurs (such as, when we finally finish that project that had us up until midnight for two weeks), we usually experience only an ephemeral feeling of happiness. Don’t get me wrong, we do indeed feel happiness when these events occur, but while we were patiently waiting for the event to occur, we were probably experiencing a little bit of misery or discontent. After our “happy” event takes place, we soon look to yet another event in the future to which to attach our happiness. This new event, we tell ourselves, will bring us even more happiness. But until that happens, we are again miserable or unhappy.

Notice a pattern? For some, this cycle of prolonged unhappiness, sprinkled with intermittent happiness, is a way of life. The solution? Practice being happy NOW. Allowing the phrase “I’ll be happy when…” to helm life’s course puts too much emphasis on events, and happy events don’t lead to happiness. Instead, focus on being happy right now. This means practicing being happy both on the good days, and even more on those bad days. Just imagine if each day was filled with that feeling of joy you thought you could only get from something “great” happening in your life. Sounds pretty good to me.

That being said, scroll down for 3 simple habits you can adopt to find happiness every day.

Find joy in TODAY.

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Find something, every day, which makes you happy. Only you know what that happy trigger is. For me, it usually involves moving my body (hot yoga, hiking, walking) or connecting with family and friends. For others, it might be watching cat bloopers on the internet, or playing with your children. This one is personal and specific for each person. Once you are able to cultivate the feelings of joy on a daily basis, you will begin to notice more events and circumstances in your daily life that bring you joy. As the Greek philosopher Plato once said “likes tend toward likes” (or like attracts like).

Accept What Is.

The good, and the bad. Have you ever heard the phrase “what we resist, persists? Well, if not, now you have. I love to remind myself of this phrase, especially when I notice I am resisting something in my life. It could be the way I am feeling in regards to a person, a situation, or an event. I learned that when I turn to stillness and just let go of my thoughts of resistances, things find a way of seamlessly working themselves out. This is because once we move out of the “driver’s seat”, and out of our own way, we invite the universe to do its job of supporting us. Attaching negative energy by way of resisting will only block any good that is bound to flow to you. Letting go of all this resistance often leads to a sense of relief, and happiness.

Be Grateful—Even for the Small Things.

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful; the readiness to show appreciation. Put another way, being grateful is changing the lens by which you view something. I could look at a flat tire and be annoyed that, well, my tire is flat. Or, I could put on my “gratitude glasses” and think how lucky I am that I have a car, and don’t have to walk 21 miles along the 405 freeway to get to work. Changing your lens is easy, and you can start small. You don’t need to win the lottery to start showing gratitude. You can start by being grateful for the small things in your life, like fresh air, fresh water, or the ability to walk using both your legs. Many people are not so fortunate to have these things. Once we get in a habit of being grateful, more things will appear in our life to be grateful for. And what is the feeling associated with gratitude? You guessed it—happiness. Write your list down, or tell it to a friend. Soon, there will be an abundance of things you can be grateful for in each day.
