In point of fact, indoor plants serve up more than just major style to your home, they can also expel harmful chemical pollutants. What’s that? Pollutants in your home? Yes! We assume they are safe, but many popular household cleaners we use on a regular basis are dangerously toxic.
The most common of these chemicals, chlorine, and formaldehyde, can be commonly found in cleaning solutions like dishwater detergent, spot removers, and carpet and upholstery cleaners. And while the health risks from these pollutants can be small at first, they can manifest themselves as a respiratory irritant, which may cause serious problems down the road. Back in 1989, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in association with the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) conducted a study on plants that can detoxify the air in space stations. The study eventually led to NASA releasing a definitive list of the best indoor plants for cleaning the air.
